Max' student life

Since March 1st, 2000 I take part in the postgraduate study programme "Material Flow Management" at the University of Applied Sciences Nordostniedersachsen, Suderburg division. It is planned as a 3 term study programme. After terminating of the former postgraduate study programme "Waste Management" and a one-year-break then, some idealists, a geologist, a chemistry engineer, an architect, a landscape architect and a process engineer amongst them, gathered to follow new ways of sustainable design of products as well as metabolism engineering by the guidance by Prof. Michael Braungart. At the moment we are into plans to found a company resp. an engineering office concerning to those issues. Up to now our main occupation is to attend the lessons and join excursions for plants and projects to prepare us well for our future business.

At the first picture is shown the "hard core" of our student group "EAS" with Christina (standing besides me), Gerald, Britt and Wenly (Roland is missing because of illness).

EAS - students on the way to the sugar factory Uelzen
On the 22nd of March (Day of Water!) our first excursion brought us to the Nordzucker AG, Uelzen branch.
By an invitation of the Sewage Society Uelzen we attended a non-public licencing conference for a planned storage
pond for the factory sewage.

On the same day later on we got information about methods of close-to-nature sewage treatment at the Lahstedt Local Authority. This is a registered project for the EXPO 2000 in Hannover.

On 18th April we inspected the areas of our future engagements in the Wolfenbüttel district. We want to take soil samples near the rivers Oker and Innerste, e.g. for heavy metals.
